Leonardo Hotel Cardiff

Look, if you're after a Cardiff crash pad that's smack in the centre without the chaos of actually being in the chaos, Leonardo Hotel nails it. Rooms are clean, comfy, and big, proper spacious beds that make you forgive any minor quirks. Staff are genuinely helpful (no eye-rolling when you ask the obvious questions), breakfast is solid with plenty of choice, and the location means you're steps from everything worth seeing without needing a taxi every five minutes. It delivers reliable, no-drama comfort. I'd happily book again—great value, quiet enough at night, and zero regrets. Solid 9/10 for a city break.

Great location - handy to the shopping area, malls and cafes. Easy walk to Cardiff Castle, Museums, Bute Park etc Leonard hotel has a restaurant so breakfast, dinner, drinks available. Room service also available. Lifts and stairs. Reasonably quiet. Friendly/helpful staff. Bed comfortable, coffee machine available, still and sparking water plus tea making supplies. Small Fridge, safe, ironing board and iron all in room. View from room not great. We were celebrating a Wedding Anniversary so our room had been decorated with balloons. Very sweet..

Hotel was well placed for Cardiff City. Staff were friendly and attentive, especially reception who went over and beyond to help. Stayed in room 122 which had a few issues. My sheets were less than clean with several marks and a drippy sink tap that was annoyed at night that I got up and put a handtowel in sink in middle of the night. Room was well proportioned, good range of products and beds very comfortable. I would stay again just Room needs some attention to detail.

All staff I interacted with were wonderful, my room was excellent and overall the experience made my work trip so much easier and more comfortable. I have to travel to Cardiff several times a year for work and will absolutely be staying again. Many thanks!

Stayed in room 233. Lovely and clean as was the bathroom. Room was was big , 2 points to pick up on the aircon did not work properly but there was an electric fan so we had heat in room . Bathroom was lovely and warm . 2nd points the bed kept moving every time you hot in or out from headboard. Breakfast was lovely and easy check-in and out . They do have parking but at £25 which is ok for peace of mind for your car . Would we stay again definitely.

Hotel is very comfortable while the rooms are a bit dated the staff more than make up for that. Beds are super comfy. Team on reception are great - lots of tips and always smiling. It’s an excellent location for the New Theatre.

Lily and the night receptionist are amazing ambassadors of your brand and organisation. Extremely calm and collected under pressure plus super cheerful and polite. Housekeeping standards are well above average and the team members attending to our rooms are commendable for their warm and caring attitudes. The bar and kitchen staff deserve a mention as well. I ate dinners on both nights of our stay at the restaurant with excellent and efficient service. The wine list could do with some fine tuning and there were no port options. The 15% discount was the deciding factor for me at the end. The salmon had perfectly crispy skin with flaking flesh. Could have done with a few more salad leaves and cherry tomatoes on the plate. The steak was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. The mashed potato portion could have been smaller, but was very smooth and tasty. Best compliments to the management and stakeholders. We will be back very soon.

I stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Cardiff in June 2025 fr 3 days and had a genuinely great experience overall. On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a King Suite, which instantly set the tone for the stay. The room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with plenty of room to relax and unwind. All the amenities you’d expect were provided, and everything was clean and well maintained, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was another highlight. There was a good variety of options available, and everything I tried was fresh and tasty, making it a solid start to the day. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which always makes a big difference when traveling. Location-wise, the hotel is excellent. Most major attractions, shops, restaurants, and bars are within easy walking distance, so getting around Cardiff was effortless and didn’t require any transport. The only downside during my stay was the noise from birds outside in the morning, especially if you try to open the curtains. It was slightly disruptive, though not a major issue. Also, a small tip: don’t forget to bring any over-the-counter medications you might need, just in case. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. I would happily stay here again on my next visit back.
